Martin Appointed Fire Chief for the City of Carthage

CARTHAGE, Mo. — The City of Carthage is proud to announce that Jason Martin has been officially appointed as Fire Chief during the March 11, 2025, city council meeting. Chief Martin, a lifelong resident of Carthage, has dedicated nearly three decades to serving and protecting the community through his work with the Carthage Fire Department.

A graduate of Carthage High School’s Class of 1987, Chief Martin began his career with the Carthage Fire Department in May 1998. Over the years, he has served in multiple leadership roles, including Firefighter, Engineer, Lieutenant, and Captain. In January 2022, he was promoted to Deputy Chief, and in June 2024, he assumed the role of Interim Fire Chief.

“Chief Martin’s experience, dedication, and deep-rooted commitment to Carthage make him an exceptional leader for our fire department,” said Traci Cox, Interim City Administrator. “We have full confidence in his ability to continue ensuring the safety of our citizens and leading the department with integrity and professionalism.”

Chief Martin expressed his gratitude for the appointment and his enthusiasm for the future.

“It is an honor to serve as Fire Chief in the community that has been my home for a lifetime,” Martin said. “I look forward to working alongside the incredible men and women of the Carthage Fire Department as we continue to provide excellent service and protection to our residents.”

The City of Carthage extends its congratulations to Chief Martin and looks forward to his continued leadership in this vital role.
