CARTHAGE, Mo. — The Carthage R-9 School Foundation will host its annual Trivia Night fundraiser on February 10, 2024 this year. The event is the Foundation’s major fundraiser for the year, supporting the work that the Foundation does for the staff and students of the Carthage R-9 School District. Director, Crystal Brown describes the event as a great way to support the Foundation, while having some fun with your friends, competing for prizes and registering for the raffle.
This year’s Trivia Night will also take place at the new location of Specialty Risk Insurance, at 10385 Blackberry Road in Carthage, across from the Joplin Stockyards. The new office offers a spacious location with plenty of parking and easy access in and out. “The Foundation is so grateful to Specialty Risk for allowing us to host in their new, remodeled office location. We think it will be a great way to highlight the growth of one of our local businesses,” Brown said.
The Foundation is excited to be working in cooperation with Mrs. Sonora Jones and the Culinary Arts program at Carthage Technical Center, as well. “This is something new this year to Trivia Night. Mrs. Jones’ classes are offering the ability to order single or table-sized charcuterie trays, or turkey wrap snack packs for the evening, prepared by the students. We’re thrilled that we can partner with some of our teachers and students to showcase their talents and support their programs,” stated Brown. “Plus, they are delicious and made to order – I can’t think of a better way to enjoy the evening!” Teams are also now able to online register for the competition, as well as order their snacks and mulligans.
Sponsors for the event have the ability to make their donations online to support the Foundation, too. “As a not-for-profit, we are always seeking the financial support of our community to keep things running on a day to day basis. Being our only major fundraiser for the year, it is imperative that we continue to receive assistance through sponsorships and team entries.” Mrs. Brown notes that this collaboration between the Foundation, community and school is key to providing for our district.
Additionally, that joint effort has been bolstered by the ability to now donate online and maintain an internet presence. “Dr. Goodnight (Assistant Superintendent of Business for Carthage Schools) and Amy Cristy (District Communications Director) first proposed the online donation platform as an easy way to reach individuals that may not be local.” Mrs. Brown notes that Mrs. Cristy has been an invaluable part of the setup and facilitation of their site. Now the capability extends to not only support for Trivia Night, but other applications as well. Memorial donations have been accepted for those wishing to honor friends and loved ones, and they will soon have an active platform for electronic contributions to each of the scholarships that the Foundation manages. “Dr. Boyer has also been incredibly insightful in discussing ways to perpetuate the visibility of the R-9 School Foundation. The online donation platform is something that is essential to our success and gives us the capacity to connect with a wider audience.”
Connection and relationships are at the heart of Carthage R-9 School Foundation’s mission and why the annual Trivia Night fundraiser is so significant. “There isn’t a better atmosphere to show your support for the community and our schools and enjoy time spent socializing with friends. We love to brag on our sponsors and the competition is always fun,” Crystal Brown states.
Trivia Night will take place on February 10th, 2024 at Specialty Risk Insurance, 10385 Blackberry Road, Carthage, MO at 6pm.
