The Recycling Center in Carthage is temporarily unavailable for materials and drop-offs. the facility is following compliance restrictions of the Governor’s Statewide Stay Home Order.
As additional vendors of the recycling center are also following the Stay Home Order, materials dropped off at the Recycling Center have no method of removal. In short, the center faces the same dilemma as homeowners: when the items stack up on-site, the center has nowhere to send them. Therefore, the center can not take additional materials at this time.
City of Carthage Public Works hopes to reopen the center for limited hours when the Governor’s Order expires, but can not guarantee a date as the status of the order is pending possible extension. The limited hours are based on the items received and the speed at which the City can process those items and remove them from their facility. Public Works plans to post their schedule and updates regarding the recycling facility on the City of Carthage Website and the Public Works Department Facebook page. Please stay faithful in recycling efforts; your patience and love of community are truly appreciated.
