Originally from Carthage, Dr. Erick Studyvin is excited to be back in his hometown helping the community with all their foot and ankle needs. Upon graduating from Missouri Southern State University in 2011, Dr. Studyvin moved across the country to New York City to attend New York College of Podiatric Medicine. After graduating Valedictorian of the class of 2016, he spent the last four years training at the well-known Mount Sinai Beth Israel in Manhattan for his foot and ankle residency.
“The diversity of conditions and patients seen was greater than any other place I could have gone. It was humbling to help New Yorkers and it was the best training I could have ever imagined receiving,” said Dr. Studyvin.
Even after over 8 years in the Big Apple, Dr. Studyvin knew that he wanted to go back to southwest Missouri.
“It was somewhere that my wife and I knew we wanted to go back to. Both of our families are here and we were eager to get back home,” said Dr. Studyvin.
And he did just that. Dr. Studyvin found a home at Four States Foot Clinic in Joplin working as a foot and ankle doctor with Dr. Matthew Richins. The main office is located in Joplin at 20th and Maiden Lane, but they recently opened up another office in Carthage in the Pavilion Medical Spa.
“Carthage can be more rural with less access to Podiatric care.” said Dr. Studyvin “It’s my hometown and I wanted to take the skills and training that I obtained in New York to help serve the city and the surrounding community.”
