The staff of George Washington Carver National Monument invites preschoolers and their families to a story hour on Tuesday, December 10th at 10 a.m. This free program is held indoors in collaboration with Carl Junction Parents as Teachers. The topic is backyard birds!
A park ranger will read a story exploring George Washington Carver’s curiosity about nature, followed by a bird identification activity using plush birds with authentic bird calls! Preschoolers will have the opportunity to make a bird feeder using pinecones. Everyone is encouraged to stay afterwards and explore the discovery area, take a walk on the nature trail, watch the park film, or picnic.
Parents as Teachers is a Missouri-based program that works to promote the optimal early development, learning and health of children by supporting and engaging their parents and caregivers. To learn more, visit: parentsasteachers.org
