Preschool Story Hour African American Trailblazers

February 27 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Free

George Washington Carver National Monument staff invite preschool families to preschool story hour on Tuesday, February 27th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Celebrate Black History Month with this family-friendly program, held in collaboration with Granby Head Start. Preschool story hour is best for children two to six years of age and is free of charge!

Head Start staff will read an interactive book about African American Trailblazers, which includes George Washington Carver! Children will learn about inventors, artists, musicians, scientists, authors, and poets. Park rangers will lead children in fun, learning activities that will encourage their imaginations.

After the program, preschoolers and their families are invited to explore the discovery area located inside the visitor center, with interactive exhibits such as microscopes and animal exhibits, then take a nature walk on the 3/4-mile trail, where they may see turtles at the pond and hear spring peepers! Head Start programs support children’s growth from birth to age 5 through services that support early learning and development, health, and family well-being.
