The staff of George Washington Carver National Monument invites preschool families to Preschool Story Hour on Tuesday, December 5th at 10:00 a.m. This free, family friendly program is held indoors in collaboration with Neosho Parents at Teachers (PAT). A park ranger will read an interactive book about George Washington Carver. PAT will conduct a nature prints craft activity. Preschool Story Hour is geared toward children two to six years of age.
After the program, preschoolers and their families are encouraged to explore the discovery area located inside the visitor center with interactive exhibits such as microscopes, animal exhibits, a one room school classroom, and more. Additionally, visitors may choose to take a walk on the 3/4-mile nature trail, watch the park film, or picnic.
Administered by the National Park Service, an agency of the Department of the Interior, George Washington Carver National Monument preserves the birthplace and childhood home of George Washington Carver – scientist, educator, and humanitarian.
The park is located two miles west of Diamond, Missouri on Highway V, then ¼ mile south on Carver Road. For more information, please call the park at 417-325-4151 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., visit the park website at www.nps.gov/gwca, or visit the park Facebook page.
