Roxye Flo Rowell, 88, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Thursday evening, October 15, 2020, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage, Missouri.
Roxye was born August 15, 1932, in Anson, Texas, the daughter of Calvin Houston Watts and Velma Ruth (Casbeer) Watts. She was a graduate of Anson High School and then went on to attend business college. She married Lonnie Lee Watts; he preceded her in death. She worked as a bank teller and also served as Director for Meals On Wheels. Roxye then married Bill Rowell in 1989. She was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Carthage. Roxye was a devout Christian. She also devoted her life to loving and caring for her family and others.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; three daughters, Starla Cannon (Ray), Jasper, Missouri, Roxanne Snipes, Kerrville, Texas, and Tanya Baugh (Fred), Carthage; three sons, Steve Watts (Suzette), Houston, Texas, Rob Rowell (Sherry), Joplin, and Billy Rowell, Jr. (Angie), Snook, Texas; twenty-one grandchildren; and forty great-grandchildren with two on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, W.C. Watts, Bob Watts, and Burneal Watts; and two sisters, Louise Rose, and Ione Acklin.
Funeral services will be held 10 am, Monday, October 19, 2020, at Crossroads Baptist Church, Carthage. Burial will be held 11 am, Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Laurel Land Memorial Park, Ft. Worth, Texas, with reception to follow at The Church in Fort Worth, 4066 Kingsridge Road. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
