Virgean Lynn Bosworth, 75, Carthage, Missouri, ran into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage. Virgean was born to Waldemar and Olinda Friedrichs on February 10, 1949, in Topeka, Kansas, the 3rd of 6 children. The family moved to Topeka, Kansas in June of 1966 right before Virgean’s senior year of high school. She attended Marysville High School until her senior year, and then attended Shawnee Heights High School in Topeka, where she graduated with the class of 1967. She attended college for two years before signing with Everyman Players as a member of their acting cast and costume design.
A motorcycle accident on July 23, 1972, resulted in a brain stem injury and she was in a coma until October 24, 1972. After rehabilitation, she graduated from Emporia State University. Virgean volunteered at a Montessori school in Olathe, Kansas, and was a foster parent to two young girls. She also sponsored two orphans in Haiti as well as serving in children’s ministries at her home churches. Virgean also had a heart for the elderly and disabled and spent time in nursing homes and with hospice patients.
Virgean became a licensed reflexologist delighting her nieces and nephews by practicing on them and by helping others.
Virgean’s life calling was to be an ambassador for Jesus Christ and did so by sharing the good news through her many mission trips, with her family and friends, with her church family, and any stranger she encountered.
Virgean is survived by her siblings, Warren Friedrichs (Cindy), Spokane, Washington, George Friedrichs, Topeka, Kansas, Kristin Barber (Rob), Neosho, Missouri, Debbie Crites (Tom), Camdenton, Missouri, and Lora Samuelson (Mike), Carthage, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of life and worship service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Fairview Christian Church, Carthage. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 am until service time. Memorial contributions can be made to Carthage Humane Society in care of Knell Mortuary.
