WEBB CITY, Mo. — On August 10, 2023, at approximately 6:30 PM, Jasper County Deputies were dispatched to the area of Hall Street and Fountain Road in Webb City. Deputies made contact with two men who said they had been assaulted at a residence located at 1509 Rib Road.
The two men said they went to the residence to sell an air compressor and during the sale, one man struck the victim in the back of the head with a baseball bat and another man pulled a gun and fired two shots at them. The two victims then ran and called law enforcement. No one was struck from the shots fired.
Jasper County Deputies and the SWAT team responded to the 1509 Rib Road and served a search warrant on the residence. Steven A. Blansfield, 31, of Joplin, was taken into custody and transported to the Jasper County Detention Center in Carthage. Charges have been sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for First Degree Robbery.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges and arrests are expected.
The charges for which the above were arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
