A slew of turnovers and cold shooting from the three point line proved too much for the Tigers to overcome in the 57-40 loss against Republic Saturday.

Carthage went 5-of-19 from the 3 point line and had 18 turnovers on the night.

“That’s a recipe to lose to any republic team,” said Carthage Coach Nathan Morris.

“We allowed Republic to play more physical than us on both ends,” added Morris. “We discussed self-inflicted mistakes can’t happen versus republic because they will make it hard enough to score as is. Our kids and fans were frustrated with the fact that they shot 16 free throws and we only shot six, but I think that was due to our play.”

Max Templeman scored 13 points to lead the Tigers, while Joel Pugh added 12. Clay Kinder added 7 points, Tyler Willis had 4 points and Caden Kabance and Britt Coy added 2 points apiece.

Carthage is now 15-5 overall and 1-3 in the COC. They travel to Neosho Tuesday for another COC contest.

The Lady Tigers are 9-12 overall and 0-4 in the COC. They travel to Neosho Monday looking for their first win in the conference this year.
