ST. CHARLES, Mo. — The Missouri Southern baseball team fell 12-2 in eight innings today in game two of the series at Lindenwood inside the Lou Brock Sports Complex.
Southern (31-17, 22-10 MIAA) locks up the No. 2 seed in next week’s MIAA Baseball Tournament at Pittsburg State and will play at 12:30 pm on Thursday, May 9 in the first round against the No. 7 seed, yet to be determined.
Matt Miller had a home run and two RBIs, while scoring once himself. Mike Million, Alex Phillips, Troy Gagan and Ryan Hunter had a hit each, while Gagan added a run.
Will Bausinger started and went five and two-thirds, but suffered the loss to move to 5-4 on the season. He struck out four in the game. River Wright, Bradly Hershey, Brennon Covington and Cam Bednar threw in relief.
Lindenwood (27-22, 18-14 MIAA) got three hits each from Kyle Stevens and Bryce Beckmann. Blake Beckmann started and went seven innings to pick up the win.
Lindenwood scored first with a pair of runs in the first inning. Miller tied the score at two in the fifth with a two-run bomb to score Gagan.
Lindenwood, however, added four runs in the six, one in the seventh and five in the eighth to put the game away.
