HAYS, Kan. – The Missouri Southern softball team fell to the Fort Hays State Tigers in both games 8-4 and 8-2 as part of a doubleheader inside Tiger Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Game One
The Lions (8-9, 1-3 MIAA) fell behind early after Fort Hays State (9-8, 2-0 MIAA) scored four in the first and two in the second to take a 6-0 lead into the third. Southern recorded two runs to cut the deficit to four, but the Tigers added two more in the sixth and secured an 8-4 victory.
Emily Harris went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored to lead Southern. Six other Lions added a hit while Lexi Ferrari knocked in two RBIs and Ashley Caldarella and Emilee Meyer each crossed the plate as well.
Game Two
The Tigers scored four runs in the first inning and tacked on two more to go up 6-0 in the fourth. The Lions answered right back with two runs in the fifth, but would end in a 8-2 loss to conclude the day.
Elizabeth Windsor registered a double that plated the two runs in the fifth. Ferrari and Meyer each added a hit while Josie Tofpi reached home on Windsor’s double.

The Lions continue their road trip in Great Bend, Kansas for a doubleheader with Nebraska-Kearney on the campus of Barton County Community College beginning at noon.
