Lions fall in low-scoring affair to Rogers State, 1-0

JOPLIN, Mo. — The Missouri Southern softball team battled the Rogers State Hillcats to the end in a low-scoring game where the Hillcats escaped with a 1-0 victory inside Pat Lipira Softball Complex Wednesday afternoon.

Both teams were held scoreless through five innings until the Hillcats singled a run home from second base with two outs in the sixth.

Shortstop Josie Tofpi led the Lions with a 2-for-3 day at the plate while Erika Lutgen recorded a hit as well in the loss. Senior pitcher Taurean Guzman pitched seven innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out five.
