SENECA, Mo. — The Lady Tigers found themselves down five points at the end of the first half, but caught fire in the second half to pull away in the 69-54 win against Seneca Thursday, Jan. 27.
“Great second half by our team tonight,” said Carthage Coach Scott Moore. “We locked down defensively and really put the clamps on their offense. That triggered our transition offense and we took control of the game with a 20-point separation over the final 16 minutes.”
Freshman Guard Lauren Choate knocked down five 3-pointers on her way to 21 points to lead the Tigers in scoring. Kianna Yates added 15 points while Landry Cochran added 10 points. Presley Probert had 7 points, Maggie Boyd and Sophie Shannon finished with 6 points apiece and Raven Probert and Daniela Marquez added 2 points each.
“I’m really proud of how the girls reacted to what we talked about at halftime, said Moore. “There wasn’t any yelling on my part, just refocusing the girls on the game plan and reminding them of how we play basketball in Carthage.”
The Lady Tigers are 9-10 overall and 0-2 in the COC. They host Joplin Tuesday, Feb. 1.
