Carthage wrestling brings home fourth place COC finish

In what Coach Kenny Brown hoped concluded a recent strain of injuries and illnesses, the Tiger Wrestling team brought home a fourth place finish at this year’s Central Ozark Conference Tournament last Saturday.

“Our dual with Neosho was the last time we had a full, healthy lineup.  Following that dual we came away with at least two injuries and things kind of snowballed from there.  The biggest challenge at this point in the season is keeping everyone healthy.  Dalen (Moore) and Dagan (Sappington) were still out and Brandon Crow went home sick.  We still had some big matches and made a decent showing with a partial lineup,” Brown said.

Carthage scored some big points with individual COC champions, juniors, Kale Schrader (220) and Brener Ocana (285).  Schrader remains undefeated and is ranked 1st in Class Four, 15th in Intermat national rankings.  Fellow juniors, Trulyn Kendrick (160) and Carthage newcomer Kelten Campbell (152) finished 2nd and 3rd respectively, while senior, Colton Winder (195) brought home a 4th place medal.
