In a packed week prior to the MSHSAA Class 4, District 3 tournament in Ozark, the Carthage men’s wrestling team faced Seneca, and a makeup double dual with Waynesville and Springfield Central. Monday hosted the last home dual of the year between the Tigers and the Seneca Indians, that unfortunately came up short for the Tigers. Senior Uziel Teo suffered a season-ending injury at 132 lbs., and only Randy Teo (106 lbs.) and Tanner Putt (120 lbs.) put up Ws for Carthage in the head to head matchups, resulting in a 24-56 loss to a tough Seneca team.
As the team headed to Springfield to take on Central and Waynesville the next night, Carthage struggled through injuries and illness recovery, as well as some tight matches, ultimate falling to Waynesville 27-42. Central’s sparse lineup posted little challenge in the second dual, however, as the Tigers beat them 78-3 in the last regular match of the season. The Tigers head to Ozark Friday, February 21 to compete in the two-day Class 4, District 3 MSHSAA District Tournament. Schools competing are Branson, Carthage, Glendale, Joplin, Kickapoo, Lebanon, Lee’s Summit, Lee’s Summit West, Neosho, Nixa, Ozark, Raymore-Peculiar, Republic, Smith-Cotton, Waynesville, and Willard. Wrestling begins at 5pm.
