Carthage junior varsity wrestling, once again, came to play as they rolled into the Labette County Tournament with 36 wrestlers last Saturday ready to compete.  While the varsity squad stayed behind to help with the Carthage Youth Tournament, the JV wrestlers showed exactly why they are the next generation and ready to lead the team to success.

Coaches Kenny Brown, John Petticrew and Kellen Bounous all had their hands full with the large number of matches that took place but were very pleased with the results they saw from their team.

“We basically dominated the tournament, not only in sheer numbers but in the amount of first, second and third place finishes we had,” said Coach Kenny Brown.  Nineteen wrestlers came away with first-place finishes in their respective weight classes, which was more than half of the Carthage entries.
