Timothy R. Selves, 74, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Timothy was born on August 18, 1950, in Monett. He was a lifetime resident of the Joplin area. Timothy received his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Missouri Southern State University, and his associate’s degree in theology at the Nazarene Bible College. He worked for the City of Joplin for 15 years before he retired. He spent 10 years in the army with the 101st Airborne, serving in Vietnam during that time. He loved riding his Harley, playing his guitar, and managed a booth at the Joplin Flea Market for many years. He was musically talented, and people knew him as the Music Man.
He was united in marriage to Rose Ewing-Lowe on February 23, 2008; she survives. He is survived by two sons, Daniel Selves of Houston, Texas, and Aaron Selves of Billings, Montana; three daughters, Rebekah Selves of Joplin, Ashlee Beck of Joplin, and Casandra Bailey of Carl Junction; one stepson, Ryan Lowe of Carl Junction; one stepdaughter, Debra Cartwright of Maui, Hawaii; one sister, Anita Miller of Webb City; and 17 grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service for Timothy at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri.
