Sharon Rush, cherished daughter, wife, and mother, died in Joplin on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, after a long illness. Her final days were spent in the company of her family.
Sharon was born in Neosho on June 28, 1945. She was the oldest of four daughters born to Darold and Betty Turner. He was in the Marine Corps, and Sharon grew up on military bases across the country. She married Emerald Rush on Dec. 11, 1977. She had three children from a previous marriage and he had two, and the family made its home in Carthage.
Sharon had a full life well-lived. She’s no longer with us, but the wonderful memories of her kindness, generosity, and love of family will live on in the hearts of all who mourn her. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her daughter Kimberly of Joplin, son Brian and his wife Brandee of Oronogo, and son Jason of Carthage, as well as two stepchildren. Also, surviving are her three sisters, Sunny, Linda, and Betty, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
She will rest next to Emerald at Paradise Cemetery north of Carthage. A private burial for the family will be held at a later date.
