Samuel E. Feather, 91, of Sarcoxie, Missouri departed this life on January 15, 2019 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Sam entered this life on June 18, 1927 in Springfield, MO to the union of the late Samuel and Juanita (Akers) Feather. He was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School. After graduation he proudly served in the United States Navy. On April 14, 1947 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Shae at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sarcoxie MO. Together they shared sixty-eight wonderful years of memories. Sam retired from Atlas Powder as a line foreman, after many years of dedicated service. He was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was former president of the Bears Booster Club, member of the Knights of Columbus, member of the Mt.Vernon golf senior league. He enjoyed golf, woodworking, attending grandchildren’s sporting events as well as spending time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; two sons, Carl Feather and Conrad Feather; three grandchildren; sisters, Margaret White and Betty Jo Lawyer.
Sam is survived by his children, Chris Feather and wife, Debbie, Curtis Feather and wife, Kathleen, Cynthia Workes and husband, Billy and Charlotte Pickering and husband, Doug all of Sarcoxie, Mo., and Tony Feather and wife, Jean, of Jefferson City, Mo; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two great-great granddaughters; two daughter-in-law’s, Joe Feather, of Derby, Ks., and Peggy Feather of Carthage, MO; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning, January 18, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sarcoxie, Missouri, with Father Matthew Rehrauer officiating. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with visitation to follow. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Jamie Pickering, A.J. Feather, Josh Feather, Dusty Feather, Denver Feather, Kevin Feather, Flint Feather and Kirby Workes. Honorary pallbearer will be Randy Feather. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be made to “Inch at a Time” in care of the funeral home.
