Samantha James “Samm” Castic, 64, Carthage, Missouri, passed away early Sunday morning, December 10, 2023, at her home. She was born February 16, 1959, in Carmi, Illinois, the daughter of Charles James and Linda (Daniel) James. She married Robert “BJ” Castic on December 1, 1977, in Miami, Florida. Samm loved to paint and enjoyed gardening. She was known for her huge heart and motherly instincts, raising not only her own children, but many other children spreading across the whole United States.
Survivors include her husband BJ, her children, Shawn Castic (Ashley), Jayma Castic, Andrea Kirby (Josh), and Nathan Nancy; mother, Linda Trout; five brothers, Jeff Trout, Bobby James, Terry Trout, Dennis Trout, and Ray Trout; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles James; stepfather, Oscar Trout, and a brother, Randy Trout.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm, Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Knell Mortuary. The family suggests contributions be made to Wounded Warriors in care of Knell Mortuary.
