Roy Arthur Stafford, Jr., 87, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at his home in Carthage, Missouri. He was born in Diamond, Missouri on April 27, 1937, to Roy Arthur Stafford, Sr. and Fanny (Long) Stafford. Roy served in the United States Airforce for 22 years, then worked in general irrigation, drove a school bus, and finally retired from the Jasper County Courthouse. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Carthage. Roy was a loving father, husband, son, grandparent, and friend to many and loved by all. His love for all was unconditional and he had a heart of gold.
Roy was joined in marriage to Minnie Robinson on September 13, 1958, they celebrated 65 years together. She survives.
He’s survived by his wife, Minnie Stafford; daughter, Vicky Stafford (Weaver) of Carthage; two sons, Roy Arthur Stafford III (Tonya) of Carthage, and Todd Stafford of Carthage; and one brother, Don Stafford; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
A funeral service is scheduled for Roy at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Ulmer Funeral Home. The visitation will be held the night before on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Ulmer Funeral Home.
