Robert Lee Rose, Sr., 90, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at his home. Robert was born October 14, 1931, in Monett, Washington, the son of John D. Rose and Nellie Vay (Riley) Rose. He married the love of his life, Jewel M. Sanders, on October 16, 1954, in Hartville, Missouri. Robert was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army as an anti-aircraft gunner during the Korean War. Robert worked as a polisher and machine operator for Locarni Marble in Carthage. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and loved being outdoors. He was a very skilled craftsman and woodworker and there was nothing he could not build. He was a very hard worker but loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jewel Rose; three daughters, Beverly Kelley (James), of Carthage; Janet Sloniker (Steven), of Carthage, and Rita Maggard (Jack), of Jasper, Missouri; two sons, Robert Rose, Jr., of Carterville, Missouri, and Merle Rose, of Carthage; thirteen grandchildren, Steven Kelley, Jason Kelley, Mandy Sloniker, Brock Sloniker, Lucas Sloniker, Gage Pittman, John Burns, Jr., Tasha Ivie, Kara Burns, Mason Rose, Cody Rose, Robbie Lee Rose, and Tommy Epperson; 13 great-grandchildren, and many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Rose; his brothers, Leo Rose, Leonard Rose, Roy Rose, John Rose, and Floyd Rose; his sisters, Gladys Aleksich, Goldie Rose, Helen Dill, Shirley Lewis, and Peggy Anderson; and one grandson, Steven Sloniker, Jr.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Stone Cemetery, Diamond, Missouri. Memorial gifts are suggested to Knell Mortuary to help with some of the funeral expenses.
