Richard Rogers Berry, 75, Neosho, Missouri, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Oak Pointe of Neosho, Missouri. He was born on December 30, 1949, in Fulton, Missouri, the son of the late Howard D. Berry and Martha “Jean” (Switzer) Berry. Richard’s life was marked by his friendly demeanor, intelligent mind, and kind heart, touching the lives of all who knew him.
Richard was a proud 1968 graduate of Fulton High School, Fulton, Missouri. He married the love of his life, Deborah Stanley, on January 9, 1971, in Springfield, Illinois; she preceded him in death on August 18, 2021. He was a veteran, proudly serving his country with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.
Richard’s pursuit of knowledge and his passion for technology led him to a distinguished career as a computer engineer. He dedicated many years of service to Digital Equipment Corporation, followed by a fulfilling tenure at Reuters, where he continued to demonstrate his expertise until his retirement. Richard’s professional accomplishments were a testament to his dedication and work ethic, which earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Beyond his professional life, Richard was known for his melodious voice and love for music, which found a perfect outlet in his involvement with a Barbershop Chorus while residing in Illinois. His musical talent and enthusiasm for singing brought joy to many and created a harmonious backdrop to many family gatherings.
He is survived by his devoted sons, Ted Berry of Ridgeland, Mississippi, and Nathan Berry (Fallon) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his grandchildren, Cailin, Christian, Austyn, and Ronan Berry, and the joyous anticipation of one more on the way; his sister, Susan “Susie” Bewick of Carthage, Missouri; and many extended family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Stephen “Steve” Berry.
