Richard Noel Still, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, in Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 93. He was born on March 10, 1931, in Jasper, the son of the late James Alexander and Esther Nadeane (Stith) Still.
Richard’s early life in Jasper laid a foundation of strong values and a love for the simpler pleasures in life. He graduated from Sarcoxie High School in 1950, where he formed friendships and principles that would last a lifetime. He married the love his life, Norma “Fern” Seypholt, on May 10, 1953, in Carthage, Missouri, she preceded him in death on August 20, 2020. Richard was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army. His career as a sales manager for Party Steak in Carthage, Missouri, showcased his friendly demeanor and thoughtful approach to customer service, earning him respect in the Southwest Missouri area.
Beyond his professional life, Richard was deeply involved in his community. He was a proud member of First Christian Church, Carthage, Missouri, Gideons International and the Joplin Restaurant Association, where he contributed his time and resources with the same generosity and spirit that he approached all aspects of his life. His interests were diverse and rooted in his love for the outdoors; beekeeping, fishing, and farming were not just hobbies but passions that he pursued with joy and enthusiasm.
Richard’s sense of humor was contagious, and his ability to find the funny in everyday situations brought laughter and lightness to those around him. He was the kind of person who could strike up a conversation with anyone and make them feel like an old friend within minutes.
Family was the cornerstone of Richard’s life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his children, Dwayne Still (Gina), Mike Still (Tina), and Denise Fullerton (Darren). His grandchildren, Jessica Repschlaeger, Kelsey Gougler, Jeremiah Still, Kyle Still, Austin Still, Caroline Davidson, Ryan Fullerton, and Clayton Fullerton, will carry forward his stories, lessons, and jokes, ensuring that his spirit continues to guide them. Richard’s great-grandchildren, Paisley Gougler, Taylor Gougler, Kenzley Repschlaeger, Jazmine Still, Tyler Still, Charlee Davidson, and Cooper Davidson were a source of immense pride and joy, and he relished every moment spent with them.
He is also survived by his loving sisters, Bonibel Wilson, Connie Barclay, and Elizabeth Wilson. Richard’s extended family and a vast network of friends will miss his presence deeply but are comforted by the countless memories they have shared.
Richard was also preceded in death by his son, Douglas Still; his brothers, James Still, Jr., Harvey Still, and Leland Still, and his sisters, Margaret Manley, Mermyl Wyant, Betty James, Nancy Still, and Maribeth Ward. The bond he shared with his siblings was one of mutual respect and affection, and their memories will be cherished by all who knew the Still family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Monday, November 25, 2024, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. The burial will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Jasper, Missouri.
