Rex Merle Raydon age 84, was born May 28, 1939, to Merle and Allene (Trimble) Raydon in Carthage, MO. He passed from this life on November 9, 2023, in his home in Springfield, MO from complications from a pancreatic cyst.
Rex graduated from Carthage High School, the class of 1957 and maintained lifelong friendships with his classmates. He attended SMSU and had a 34-year career with the US Postal Service. He married Wanda Pippin in 1960 and they had three children. In 1982 Rex married Carla Robertson and he gained two daughters.
He is survived by his wife Carla of 41 years, son Lane (Melanie) Raydon of Sarcoxie, MO, son Randy Raydon of Wichita, KS, daughter Angie (Jeff) Paullus of Neosho, MO, daughter Leslie Robertson of Springfield, MO, daughter Lisa Robertson of Springfield, MO, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, sister Emily (Rich) Hahn of Rochester, IL, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Rex coached Little League, Babe Ruth League, and Pee-wee Football. He loved fishing, hunting, golf, St. Louis Cardinals, and traveling. His family was what he loved most of all. He laughed easy, never met a stranger, and could always be counted on to help a friend when needed. He will be missed greatly by all that knew and loved him.
Rex was preceded in death by his parents, brother Max Raydon, nieces Diana Raydon and Amanda Morton.
A service honoring Rex will be held at Green Lawn North Funeral Home, 3506 North National, Springfield, MO 65803 on Friday, November 17, 2023. Visitation is 12:00pm – 1:00pm. Services follow at 1:00pm with Lead Pastor, Scott Watson officiating. The burial will take place following the ceremony at Green Lawn Cemetery.
