Pauline McCormick, 98, of Olathe, Kansas, formerly of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on December 15, 2022, at Homestead Assisted Living in Olathe, Kansas. Pauline was born in Carthage, Missouri on November 5, 1924. Her parents were Thedway and Almina Yoes. Her siblings, who preceded her in death, were Russell Yoes, Mollie Johnson, Esther Griffith, and Austin Yoes.
On June 9, 1942, Pauline married James McCormick in Carthage Missouri and they moved to Newman Grove, Nebraska to farm the land. In 1951, they sold their farm in Nebraska and moved back to rural Carthage to farm. James preceded Pauline in death in 2005. Pauline’s first daughter, Nancy, died of pneumonia at 6 months of age and is buried in Nebraska. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Wayne) Andrews of Olathe, Kansas, and Jack (LeAnn) McCormick of Manteno, Illinois. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Pauline worked most of her adult life at Japer County Title and Guarantee in Carthage. She was very active in the Carthage Church of the Nazarene serving on the church board and taught the 2–3-year-old class for decades. Pauline was an outstanding cook, and her pies were the best of the best.
A celebration of her life will be held 11 am, Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the Carthage Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Dustin Ledford will officiate the service. The church will be open for fellowship and visitation with her friends and family from 9 am until 11 am. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
