Norman Knight, 93, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024. Norman was born January 12, 1931, in Carthage, the third son of Jesse and Florence (Foland) Knight. He was part of the Carthage High School graduating class of 1959. Norm then attended SMW College. He was also a Korean War veteran (U.S. Air Force). Norman worked in education for 26 years as a math teacher, principal, and superintendent of schools. Later, for 8 years, he worked at Sunbeam Outdoor Products as a product designer. Then a small business owner for 26 years. Norm was a member of the Carthage Presbyterian Church.
Norm was united in marriage to Cleva Hewig on May 25, 1951; she preceded him in death November 26, 2022.
Norm is survived by two sons, Mark Knight (Linda) of Carl Junction, Missouri, and Douglas Knight (Glenda) of Lamar, Missouri; a son-in-law, Darrell McConnell of Carthage, Missouri; ten grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Norm is preceded in death by his wife, Cleva Knight; his daughter, Denise Faith McConnell (December 2016); a grandson, Jordan; his parents, Jesse and Florence Knight; three brothers, Chester, Ray, and Ivan Knight; and his sister, Kathryn Fahnstock.
Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024. Burial will follow services at Dudman Springs Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri.
