Mikell Elliff Hager was welcomed home by her Lord and reunited with her husband Ivan on November 1, 2023. She was born to Miles and Mae Elliff in Lebanon, Missouri on May 23,1935.
At eight she moved to Wichita, Kansas graduating from East High School before attending Baylor University in Waco, Texas. This was where she met Ivan. They were married in 1955 and transferred to Georgia by the Air Force shortly after. Together they lived in 8 different states and the Philippine Islands. They retired to Carthage, Mo where they lived for 47 years. After raising 4 children Mike went on to complete her college degree, graduating cum laude with a B.S. in Accounting.
She was a life-time Girl Scout as a girl, a leader, and later as a professional working in the District Office. Mike was a long- time member of Carthage UMC, Tuesday Sorosis, Extension Club, and Quilters’ Group. She was in several bridge groups as well. Later, Mike moved to Columbia and was a resident at Westbury Independent Living where she met many friends and enjoyed games and Bible Study. She also joined Community UMC and PEO.
Mike was kind, gracious and loving. Friends and Family were extremely important to her. She learned as an Air Force wife that including others was the best way to live and she imparted that skill to her children. She always told them that it wasn’t the location of the house that made a home, but the people in it.
She leaves behind her children: Christi (Steve), Casey (Larry), Miles (Sandy) and Mikell Beth as well as 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren with one more on the way. She is also survived by a niece and 2 nephews. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
In lieu of flowers that donations may be given to the Community United Methodist Church or P.E.O. Chapter MA.
