Lonene Dye, 90, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 15, 2022, at her home. She was born on June 13, 1932, in Hockerville, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Lonnie and Retha (Robinson) Hayes. She married Pilgrim Martin “Bud” Dye on May 7, 1950, in Los Angeles, California; he preceded her in death on September 3, 2019. Lonene worked for 3M and Corona Clipper as a secretary; she then owned and operated Grandma’s Cupboard that was located on the Carthage Square. She attended the First Baptist Church of Oronogo, Missouri, and enjoyed playing the tambourine, sewing, cooking, camping, and fishing, but most of all, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Gregory Dye (Linda), Carthage, Stephen Dye (Susan), Joplin, and David Dye (Tina), Webb City, Missouri; and fourteen grandchildren, Melissa Reese, Rebecca Doss, Amanda Baker, Heather Diggs, Heidi Tandy, Caleb Dye, Christoffer Dye, Joshua Dye, Sarah Ezell, Travis Goodhue, Joshua Goodhue, Daniel Goodhue, Joseph Gray, and Sarah Goodhue; 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Roy Douse; and two sisters, Nola Jean Barngover and Phyllis Kay Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at the Knell Mortuary; burial will follow in the Carterville Cemetery.
