Leslie E. Nivens, 91, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin.
Leslie was born Dec. 12, 1928, in Diggins, Mo., to Leslie L. and Ruth “Templeton” Reagor. Leslie was a resident of Carthage since 1996. She was a registered nurse and was employed by the Missouri State Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon, MO and McCune Brooks Hospital in Carthage.
Leslie was united in marriage to Hugh Westley Nivens on Dec. 26, 1953, at his parent’s home; he preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1990.
Leslie is survived by one son, David Nivens and his wife Leisa of Oronogo; one daughter, Sheri Slater and her husband, Kenneth of Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Willis Brown of Joplin; nine grandchildren, Brandon, Kit, Kavan, Galen, Mary, Angela, Kirk, Kipp and Genny; seven great-grandchildren, Jordan, Wyatt, Gunner, Arleigh, Gideon, Isaac and Amelia.
Leslie was preceded in death by two sisters, Faye Hicken and Glenda Blackwell.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Services will immediately follow at 2 p.m.
