Leroy “Roy” Hudgins, age 95, of Carthage, MO, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Carthage.
Roy was born on September 18, 1929, in Joplin, MO, to the late union of Clyde and Hazel (Shipman) Hudgins. He was a lifetime resident of the Joplin and Carthage area. He enlisted in the United States Army in March of 1951 and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge in March of 1953. While serving he was awarded a Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Campaign Stars, a United Nations Service Medal, an Army Occupation Medal while in Japan, and a Combat Infantry Badge. After returning to civilian life, he enjoyed playing the fiddle with the garage band, fishing, playing Skip-Bo, and going to car shows. He married Mildred Carmack on November 11, 1993 in Carterville, MO and together they were blessed with 21 years of marriage before her passing on October 2, 2015.
In addition to his parents and wife, Roy was preceded in death by his brother; and two sons, Joey Hudgins and Dennis Points.
Roy is survived by his six children, Jimmy Hudgins, Mark Hudgins, Russell Points and wife, Sue, Neal Points, Uldine Ryan and husband, Tim, and Darlene Reynolds; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary with Pastor Brian Brinkhoff officiating. Interment to follow at Fullerton Cemetery with Alex Ryan, Gabriel Estrada, Mark Hudgins, Orrin Ryan, Ricky Cornman, Terry Reynolds, and Tyler Brister serving as pallbearers.
Funeral arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
