Leona Mae Reid, 87, of Carthage, Missouri passed away on August 1, 2022, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center. Leona was born to Earnest Reid and Amy “Bruner” Reid on May 23, 1935, in Neosho, Missouri. Leona graduated from Carthage High School and went on to pursue a career as a real estate agent. In her spare time, she liked to volunteer for many local area agencies like Meals on Wheels and Carthage Crisis Center. Leona was a lifetime area resident, and she was a member of the Victory Baptist Church.
Leona’s family was the joy of her life. Her great-grandson Finnegan was the highlight.
Leona is survived by her children, son, Mark Pace of Carthage; and daughter Sandy Murphy of Carthage; one grandson Adam Murphy and wife Melinda Brown-Murphy; two sisters Donna Acker of Springfield, Missouri, and Darlene Testerman of Atlanta, Georgia; and one great-grandson, Finnegan Zane Murphy.
She was preceded in death by her parents Earnest and Amy Reid; two brothers, Melvin Reid, and Buster Reid; and three sisters Ruby Tomlin, Luetta Hargrave, and Maxine Doerge.
A graveside service for Leona will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri at 10:00 AM.
