Joshua Phillip Smith was unexpectedly taken from us and into the presence of the Lord on October 27, 2021 in Seattle, Washington. He was born February 21, 2001 in Joplin, Missouri to Phillip “Sam” and Chrisy Smith.
Joshua’s passions included spending time outdoors with his family, especially fishing and shooting. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all, young and old. Joshua enjoyed getting to know so many people while working at Midwest AG Supply in Carthage, Missouri. Joshua loved animals and adventure. He attended Fairview Christian Church in Carthage, Missouri his whole life.
Joshua was a graduate of Carthage High School where he participated in cross country and track. He enjoyed mountain biking and running. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Joshua was looking forward to his first overseas duty station in Japan.
Joshua is survived by his parents, Phillip “Sam” and Chrisy Smith of Carthage, Missouri; a brother, Jacob and his wife, Sumer, of Duenweg, Missouri; his grandmother, Kathy Erskin of Fulton, Kansas; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Joshua was preceded in death by his grandparents, Warren and Barbara Smith, and Jimmy Erskin, all of Carthage, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Carthage R-9 Foundation for the Cross Country Team in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Ulmer Funeral Home from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Services will be held at Fairview Christian Church at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 22, 2021. Interment will be at Fasken Cemetery immediately following the services at Fairview Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
