Joan McMullen, age 83, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 14, 2020 at her home.
Joan was born January 12, 1937, in Duquesne, Missouri, to the late Harry and Silvia Jones. Joan was married to her late husband, Kenneth McMullen, for more than 50 years. For the last 6 years, she has shared her life and love with Tommy Thompson. She owned and operated Joan’s Beauty Shop for more than 40 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carthage. She loved to go dancing, traveling the world, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Joan’s survivors include her husband, Tommy Thompson; a daughter, Kathy Case (Richard); a son, Danny McMullen (Bonnie); a sister, Evelyn; her 4 grandchildren, Christy Aytek, Melissa Smith, Emily Wade, and Adam Case, her 14 great-grandchildren, Brittnee Albertson, Trey Albertson, Taylor Gillett, BreAnna Albertson, Torrie Albertson, Ty Albertson, Brooklynn Albertson, Tyler Wade, Issac Wade, Nick Wade, Jason Smith, Paige Smith, Rachel Case, and Sam Case; and her 3 great-great-grandchildren, Harper Hill, Emery Gillett, and Tatum Albertson. She was preceded in death by her son, Rick McMullen; her brother, Tommy Jones; and her sisters, Billie, Betty, and Norma.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, November 20, 2020 at Knell Mortuary. Interment will follow the services at Forest Park Cemetery, Joplin, Missouri.
