Joan “Kristy” Stewart, age 72, of Carthage, passed away on October 13, 2023 at her home.

Kristy was born on May 02, 1951 in Joplin, Mo to Bobby Hinshaw and Marilyn Hinshaw (nee Green).  When Marilyn remarried Richard Gordon, in 1954, Richard became her forever father.  As a part of a military family, Kristy grew up in a variety of places such as California, South Carolina, Washington, DC and Missouri.  In 1969 she graduated from Vista High school in Southern California.  Kristy didn’t like all the transfers that accompany military life because she always formed such close friendships wherever she lived.

She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Her post-high school education was at Brigham Young University and Missouri Southern State College.  For many years, she was the Composing Manager for Big Nickel.  She made many long-time friends during her years there.  She also was a very busy Tupperware seller for decades.

Kristy had a variety of interests.  She was an avid photographer as well as a music fan.  However, her biggest love in life was her family.   She was always there for showers, gradations, weddings, or basically any family event.  Kristy faithfully supported her family in all the ways that she could.  She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and happily a great-grandmother.

Kristy is preceded in death by her mother, her stepfather and her biological father.  She leaves behind 5 siblings, 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, a granddaughter, a great-grandson as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.  She is so dearly missed by all her friends and family.

Funeral services will be a private family event with arrangements under the care of Parker Mortuary and the Carthage LDS ward.
