Joan Carol Miller, 82, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born on August 21, 1940, to Eldon and Lillie Phipps in Dade County, Missouri. She was a nurse’s aide at McCune Brooks Hospital for 22 years. She also helped work on the family farm. She loved to garden and shared the fruits of her labor. She enjoyed sewing and loved to cook. Joan made numerous family dinners. She also enjoyed hosting Sunday Dinner for church members and friends. She attended Calvary Baptist Church. Joan loved her Lord and Savior. She loved serving in the church. No matter if it was cleaning, mowing the church yard, decorating, serving in the kitchen, making cookies for the kids, teaching Sunday School, or keeping the minutes at meetings. She loved people and looked for the best in them. If you ever came to visit Joan, she would always offer a glass of tea and any type of food or dessert she had. She had a servant’s heart. Joan was always willing to help and never complained.
