Gregory Eugene Beck, 66, St. Louis, Missouri, passed away Tuesday evening, July 19, 2022 at SSM Health DePaul Hospital in St. Louis. Gregory was born November 3, 1955 in Carthage, Missouri, the son of the late Harry Beck, Sr. and Ethyl Earline (Reed) Beck. He grew up in Carthage but moved to St. Louis to live with his dad during his junior year of high school. Growing up, he attended the First Presbyterian Church of Carthage. He married Karen Matthews; she preceded him in death. Gregory worked as an exterminator until his retirement. He was extremely loving and generous, being a foster parent to many children. He was always easy to talk to and had a great sense of humor.
Survivors include his three sons, Joshua Beck (Melissa), Corey Beck (Sandi), and Jacob Beck; a sister, Mary Beimdiek (Steve); his cousin and best friend, Jeanne Benson; two sisters-in-law, Christina Smith and Kim Wallace; several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harry Beck, Jr.
Graveside funeral services will be held 10 am, Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Park Cemetery, Carthage. Gregory will lie in state 8 am – 5 pm, Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage, for those who wish to sign the register book and pay their respects. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association in care of the Knell Mortuary. The family would like to thank Greg’s sister-in-law Christina, for her compassion and help she has given Greg since the passing of his wife Karen.
