Gerald “Gary” Weldon Harrison, 77, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, June 16, 2022 in Carthage, Missouri. Gary was born October 16, 1944 in Lamar, Missouri to Kenneth W. Harrison and Hazel Helen Jones. Gary was a lifetime resident of Carthage. He was a mechanic for several of the Chevrolet dealers in Carthage. Gary was the owner/operator of Central Service Center in Carthage for several years. He then managed R & W Poultry and retired from there. Gary was a member of the Vintage Rods, Maple Leaf Car Show and a charter member of Challenger Car Club in the 60’s. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage and also served on the board of Emmanuel Cemetery as caretaker.
Gary was united in marriage to Bonita Piquard on November 6, 1970 in Joplin, Missouri; she survives.
Gary is survived by his wife, Bonita Harrison; two sons, Jake Harrison (Kristen) of Carthage, Missouri and Jeff Harrison (Katie) of Seward, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Kalyssa, Karson, Sydnee, Josh, Hunter and Reagan; and two great grandchildren, Rhett and Krease.
Gary is preceded in death by one son, Joshua Wade Harrison on June 11, 1990; his parents, Kenneth and Hazel Harrison; and one sister, Jacquie Clark.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Carthage, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2022 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Emmanuel Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri.
