Gayle Mae Stark, 84, of Carthage, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at her home. Gayle was born on April 27, 1938, to Charles Boyd Kost and Lena Mae (Dilworth) Kost in a farmhouse in Dry Valley, Lawrence County, Missouri. She attended a one-room school in Dry Valley. Gayle was known for her “World Famous Chicken and Dumplings” and baked the best homemade rolls ever. She used a German “rolled-out” dumpling recipe, which she passed down to two of her family members to carry on the tradition she started. Gayle loved her faith and her family more than anything.
Gayle was married to Billy J. Stark on April 1, 1955 in Carthage, Missouri. They had three boys, Billy Charles Stark, deceased (Carol, deceased), Randy Joe Stark (Marsha), and Jeffery Clayton Stark (Tammy, deceased).
She was preceded in death by her son, Billy Charles Stark and her parents, Charles and Lena Kost.
Other survivors include grandchildren, Candida Parker, Missy Stark, Loura Canady, Craig Stark (Christin) Joe Stark (Katie), and Josh Treadway, deceased (Amanda); 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Ralph Kost and Thomas Larry Kost; one sister, Carolyn Sue (Kost) Oplotnik (Don); and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 5:00 p.m Monday, August 15, 2022, at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation to follow her service from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at a later date.
