Edith Brown, 99, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at her home. Edith was born in Haviland, Kansas, on October 29, 1924, to Raymond and Carrie Weeks. Edith moved to Carthage in the early 60’s and has been a resident since. She owned and operated Edith’s Beauty Shop for about 35 years. She was a member of the former Brooklyn Heights Baptist Church. She loved to read and do word search puzzles and really enjoyed crocheting and shopping.
Edith is survived by one son, Raymond Tackett (JoAnn) of Cheney, Kansas; six grandchildren, Amber, Amy, Jacob, Itress, Dale, and Dean; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her late husband, Jack Brown; second husband, Dale Tackett; son, Wayne Tackett; three brothers, Virgil Weeks, LeRoy Weeks, and Elmer Weeks; and one sister Helen Harris.
There will be a funeral service for Edith at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri. A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. prior to her funeral service. The burial will follow at Fullerton Cemetery in Carthage.
