Eddy Thomas White, 72, Carthage, Missouri, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, June 11, 2024, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Missouri. Eddy was born on October 6, 1951, in Carthage, Missouri, the son of the late Gilbert Christopher White, Jr. and Betty Belle (Hensley) White.

Eddy’s early life in Carthage laid the foundation for a lifetime of achievement and community involvement. A proud graduate of Carthage High School in 1969, he went on to pursue his passion for architecture, earning his degree from a reputable institution in Kansas City, Missouri. His academic accomplishments were just the beginning of a successful and fulfilling career. Professionally, Eddy dedicated himself to the field of architecture with Hunter and Associates, where his talent and vision contributed to the beauty and functionality of numerous structures. His keen eye for design and attention to detail made him a respected figure in the architectural community, and his work continues to stand as a testament to his skill and dedication. Eddy was a veteran, proudly serving his country with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Eddy’s interests and talents extended far beyond his professional life. He was an avid baseball and softball player, bringing his competitive spirit and camaraderie to the field. His love for rock ’n’ roll music was evident in the way he skillfully played the guitar. Eddy also found solace and joy in the outdoors, meticulously tending to his garden and taking pride in his yardwork. Eddy was a member of the Fairview Christian Church in Carthage.

Survivors include his sisters, Linda K. Roberts (Phil), Joplin, Missouri, Gail White, Carthage, Missouri, Sally Junkins (Steve), Joplin, Missouri, and Leanna Colaw (Bill), Ouray, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends, all of whom felt the warmth of his generous spirit. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gilbert C. “Sonny” White III.

Graveside funeral services with full military honors will be held at 2 pm, Friday, June 14, 2024, at Dudman Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made to Carthage Humane Society in care of Knell Mortuary. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
