Dorothy Joan Sharp, age 82, Carthage, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, with the angels taking her to Heaven as her husband of 63 years held her hand.
Dorothy was born Oct. 3, 1937, in Carthage to the late H.B. “Red” Davis and Evelyn (Warden) Davis. She was a 1955 graduate of Carthage High School. Dorothy married the love of her life, J.P. Sharp, on Dec. 14, 1956 in Miami, Okla.; he survives. She worked for the Jasper County Assessor’s Office in Carthage for 28 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Carthage and also a member of the DAR.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Renay Maxine Minshew, Carthage; one brother H.B. Davis, Jr. (Carla), Carl Junction, Mo.; two grandchildren, Nathan J. Minshew, St. Louis, Mo., and Arieanna Reynolds (Scott), Carthage; and seven great-grandchildren, Gavin, Kenny, Camlen, Tennisie, Liam, Lane and Natalie.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marcelay Sharp; a son-in-law, Glen Minshew; and one brother, Benny Davis.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020, at the First United Methodist Church, Carthage. Memorial gifts are suggested to the First United Methodist Church in care of Knell Mortuary.
