Donald Lee Maggard, age 74, Carthage, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. Donald was born January 30, 1945 in Reeds, Missouri to the late James A. Maggard and Bertha (Birchfield) Maggard. He worked at the rock quarry in Carthage for 41 years. Donald was a member of the Webb City Elks Club, past member of the Carthage VFW Auxiliary post 2590, and official window watcher of the parking lot of the VFW. He also enjoyed playing pool and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife of more than 20 years, Patty (Wood) Maggard of Carthage; one son, Daniel Maggard, Carthage; one brother, Ted Hall (wife Nellie); two sisters, Dorothy Elliott and Wanda Hartzler; two grandchildren, Chelsea Ann Maggard and Dustin Lee Maggard; three great-grandchildren, two step-children and four step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Douglas Lee Maggard, and two sisters, Anna Mae Black and infant sister Joyce Maggard.
Visitation will be held 6-7 pm, Monday, May 20, 2019 in the Knell Mortuary Chapel, Carthage. Graveside funeral services will be held 1 pm, Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Curtis Cemetery, Carthage.
