Diantha (Thompson) Matistic, a beloved mother, friend, and vibrant spirit, passed away peacefully October 24 at the age of 75. Born on March 1, 1949, in Carthage, Missouri, she was the cherished daughter of Ernest and Florence Thompson. Diantha spent her formative years in Carthage, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and a deep sense of community.
In her early career, Diantha was trained as a journalist, beginning her journey at the Carthage Press. Her career path took her across the country as she and her husband, Arthur Matistic, moved frequently due to his military service. Throughout this time, she continued to work in public affairs and served as executive director for several organizations.
Diantha was a devoted mother to her three children: Jessica (Matistic) Rosswick, who resides in St. Louis, and Meredith (Matistic) Schulz and Wade Matistic, both of whom live in Austin, Texas. Her love for her family was boundless, and she dedicated herself to raising her children while also caring for Arthur for over 25 years after he suffered a disabling stroke.
Described by friends as highly intelligent, witty, and a true social butterfly, Diantha had a knack for turning everyday moments into entertaining tales. Diantha loved to chronicle the world around her, transforming the mundane into captivating narratives that resonated with her friends and followers online. Her inspiration for many of her stories included her beloved dog, Augie, and the characters she met at the slot machines and poker table.
In accordance with Diantha’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please vote for Kamala Harris on November 5th, 2024. Diantha will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
