David Lee Wofford, 78, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away at his home on September 17, 2024. David was born on November 27, 1945, in Carthage, Missouri, to Arthur V. and Barbara Wofford. David was a lifelong Carthage resident, grew up a part of the Wesley Methodist Church in Carthage then later became a member of the Trinity Methodist Church in Joplin, Missouri. He worked for the KPL Gas Company for over 20 years. He attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, and played many sports for them. He boxed, played football, basketball, and especially loved softball; hotbox third base.
David is survived by one son, Brandon Wofford; six daughters, Sha-Sha Wofford, Sarita Wofford, Priest Wofford Owens, Katherine Shawna Wofford, Candace Carroll, and Angala Hoy; two brothers, Gary Wofford and Ray Wofford; two sisters, Phyllis Wofford, and Shari Wofford; grandchildren, Kiara, Kiran, Tyree, KaMika, Robert, Brianna, Marshawn, Maleah, Xavia; two great grandchildren, Jayliah and Ozias Mikel; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, David Lee Wofford Jr.; one brother Leonard Wofford; stepfather, Clarence Looney; and little brother, Clarence Arthur Wofford, born and died 1961.
There will be a graveside service for David at 12:00 PM Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri. The visitation will start at 11:00 AM at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage.
