Darelene Adair Heisten, 92, El Dorado Springs, Missouri formerly of Carthage, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2024, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Missouri. She was born on July 18, 1931, in Carthage, Missouri, the daughter of the late William Deitz and Audrey (Duke) Deitz. Darelene’s life was a testament to her loving, adventurous, and passionate spirit.
A proud 1949 graduate of Carthage High School, Darelene’s caring nature led her to a fulfilling career as a physician’s aid, where she worked alongside Dr. Isbell and Dr. Edwards in her hometown. Her dedication and compassion touched the lives of countless individuals in her community. Darelene also shared her time working part-time for Ozarkland, where she enjoyed interacting with people from all walks of life. Darelene married the love of her life, Victor Harold Heisten, on June 5, 1950, in Joplin, Missouri; he preceded her in death on August 31, 2011. They shared many great years together and made many memories of raising their family.
Darelene’s commitment to her faith was evident as a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Carthage. Her spiritual life was a cornerstone that brought her much joy and comfort throughout her years. An avid lover of the outdoors, Darelene found solace and happiness in gardening and tending to her beautiful flowers. Her green thumb was admired by all who had the pleasure of witnessing her colorful and vibrant gardens. Darelene’s adventurous side shone through her love of exploring flea markets and antiquing, always on the hunt for hidden treasures and unique finds.
She is survived by her son, Randy Heisten (wife Sally), of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; her loving grandchildren, Allison Roberts (husband Kevin) of Kentucky, Brittany Sims of Kentucky, Jill St. John (husband Sam) of Colorado, Jacob Heisten (wife Rachel) of Seneca, Missouri, Maggie Kearns (husband Travis) of Cameron, Missouri, and Polly Floyd (husband Josh) of El Dorado Springs, Missouri; her daughter-in-law, Darla Heisten-Carter (husband Wade) of Oklahoma; her two beloved granddogs, Oliver and Winston; fourteen great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Hal Heisten, Brad Heisten and William “Tris” Heisten.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 11 am, Monday, March 25, 2024, at Park Cemetery, Carthage, Missouri.
