Charles Martin Grimes, age 80, Carl Junction, Missouri, passed away early Monday March 28, 2022 at his home. Charles was born on December 16, 1941, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to the late Charles Albert Grimes and Dorothy Lucille (Varner) Grimes. He was a 1960 Graduate of Carthage High School and attended NEO A&M College where he met the love his life Karen Edwards. He and Karen married on November 3, 1963 in Miami, Oklahoma she survives. Charles worked as a maintenance man for Head Start of Joplin for many years. Charles was Master Naturalist with the Missouri Department of Conservation, a Boy Scouts leader, a member of the Missouri Fur Trader Black Powder Club, MAKO Fly fishers Club with his grandson Tanner, and raised paint horses.
Other survivors include his children, Amy Muench (Danny), Carthage, Missouri, and Brian “C.B.” Grimes, Miami, Oklahoma; Grandkids, Ashley Doss (Brandon), Carl Junction, Missouri, Adrianne Grimes, Joplin, Missouri, Lane Grimes, Joplin, Missouri, and Tanner Grimes, Carthage, Missouri; great grandkids, Olivia, Carlie, Isaiah, and Chevelle.
Charles was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leland, and Mike Grimes, and an infant twin sister.
Graveside services will be held at 1 pm, Friday, April 1, 2022 at the Ottawa Indian Cemetery Miami, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday March 31, 2022 at the Knell Mortuary. The family suggests contributions to Walter Woods Conservation Area in care of the Knell Mortuary.
