Buddy Jean Hendricks, 85, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022, at Landmark Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. Buddy was born to Charlie and Florence (Potter) Hendricks on June 3, 1937, in Carthage, Missouri. He was a lifetime resident of Carthage and worked for Steadley Company for 36 years. He attended and was a member the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Carthage. In 1960, Buddy was drafted to the Army and fought for his country until he was discharged in 1963. After being discharged from the Army he joined the National Guard.
Upon his return, Buddy was united in marriage to Lorene Smith on February 7, 1963, in Carthage, Missouri; she survives.
Along with his wife Lorene Hendricks, Buddy is survived by his daughter, Mary Smith of Joplin, Missouri; granddaughter Starlet Smith; and grandson Eric Smith.
Buddy is preceded in death by his grandson Michael Smith; his parents Charlie and Florence Hendricks; his two brothers Lion Hendricks and Leland Hendricks; and his two sisters Norene Miller and Rosie Chapman.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the Ulmer Funeral Home from 12:00 to 1:30 PM prior to the service on Friday, July 8, 2022.
